The Health of the City
Joe Ferguson, President, Civic Federation
Friday, September 27
1:00-2:00PM
Joe Ferguson became President of the Civic Federation in January 2024 following distinguished leadership as Chicago’s inspector general from 2009 to 2021, first appointed by former Mayor Richard M. Daley and twice reappointed by former Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
Founded in 1894 in the aftermath of the 1893 World’s Fair, the nonpartisan Civic Federation promotes good government emphasizing analysis and recommendations on government finance issues for the Chicago region and the State of Illinois. The Civic Federation aims to bring together often competing constituent groups from business, labor and civic, and social non-profit spheres in the collective cause of improving government. Recent Civic Federation analyses look at the budgets of the Chicago Public Schools, Chicago’s revenue options, the Illinois State Budget, and Chicago area Transit governance.
